IQAROS+ INSTALLATION

The system consists of temperature and humidity sensors, one or more repeaters that create the transmission infrastructure, and finally, an IoT gateway, the central control unit of the entire system, making an interface between the sensor network and your computer network.

Device placement

  • First, decide where you want to place the sensors and which areas of the building you need to monitor and analyze. Within their expected radio range, plug the repeaters into a power suply.
  • The sensors arrive from the manufacturer in transport mode. Therefore, they need to be activated first. In the set, you will find a magnet. Place the magnet close to the upper left part of the sensor. Once the sensor blinks, remove the magnet. Then the sensor switches to the “beaming” transmission mode, indicated by a triple blink.
  • Distribute the sensors to their target locations. While placing them, ensure they are within range of the repeaters.

Range verification

  • Place the magnet close to the upper left part of the sensor, and once the sensor blinks, move the magnet away. If the sensor receives a response from the repeaters, this will be indicated by a longer blink of the sensor. An unsuccessful test is indicated by repeated rapid blinking. In this case, adjust the positioning of the sensor and repeater.

Gateway configuration

  • Connect the IoT gateway to your network using an Ethernet cable and plug it into a power supply using the provided adapter.
  • Access the gateway’s configuration interface using a web browser by navigating to http://iqaros or, in more complex networks where this does not work, by using the IP address assigned to the gateway by your DHCP server. The computer used for the configuration must be on the same network as the gateway.
  • Fill in the main user details, including a valid email address, and add this email as a recipient for system notifications.
  • Go through the configuration steps, such as setting the time format, environment color scheme, NTP server settings, and email server configuration. It is recommended to keep the default internal email server, which ensures the system can send messages. After completing the setup, you will be redirected to the main dashboard with an overview.
  • Verify the validity of the provided email address by clicking on the link sent in the confirmation email.
  • Go through the configuration step by step using the left menu. The main dashboard provides information about the system, devices in the set, alerts related to limits, and outages.

Devices and data

  • Under Latest Data you will find the most recent data collected from the sensors.
  • Under Devices you will see a list of all devices in the set. The coordinator of the network is placed in the IoT gateway. You can view detailed information about each device and set its name and location. For sensors, you can see the measured values, and at the bottom, there are graphs of the collected data. It is recommended to fill in the name and location of each sensor based on its actual location in the building.
  • You can also enter the name and location of the repeaters. If needed, you can indicate a repeater by a light.
  • In the sensor details, you can view measured values in various display modes: tab view, list view, or combined view. Data can be displayed at different time intervals.

Network optimization

  • If there are more repeaters in the network, it is recommended to optimize the network after device placement (Devices item). This process discovers the existing topology and optimizes message delivery.

Monitoring of limit values

  • Under Device Groups you will find predefined groups for monitoring. These can be edited, deleted, or new ones created. For example, the Temperature Monitoring group monitors temperature across all sensors and sends alerts if limit values are exceeded or if a sensor signal is lost. All settings can be customized.
  • To send notifications, you need to select a recipient. Alerts, as well as daily and weekly reports, can be sent.
  • Save all changes at the end of the setup. To add another recipient, use the “Recipients” menu.
  • If you want to use the predefined group for battery status monitoring, ensure that alert and report recipients are selected.

Alerts

  • Under Alerts you will find summaries of notifications about gateway shutdowns, limit exceedances, or data unavailability from sensors. In the alert details, you can view a graphical representation of the issue. Alerts can also be accessed directly from the main dashboard.

Reports

  • Under Reports you can download a PDF report of the selected group’s status for a specified period.

Connections and services configuration

  • Under Configuration you can set parameters for data transmission from the gateway through the chosen channel. The default is MQTT, with WebSocket as an alternative. You can set the period to get the data from the IQRF network, with the default 5 minutes and a minimum of 4 minutes.
  • The NTP server can also be configured.
  • In MQTT Connections you can configure your MQTT broker to receive data from the sensors. After adding it, the broker is automatically added to the list of channels for IQRF network data transmission.
  • The Mail Server section shows the currently active mail server.
  • Under Management you will find additional information about the database version, product repository, network card, and services running on or available for the gateway.
  • From the Product repository, you can download support for newly released IQRF devices that were not available at the time of the IQAROS+ version release.

Users

  • You can add more users with either the same permissions as the main administrator has or with limited ones.
  • A user with limited permissions cannot change any settings but can view information, such as the main dashboard, recent sensor data, individual devices with details, alerts, reports, and documentation.

Safe gateway shutdown

  • The gateway can be safely shutdown or restarted using the respective button.
